#94 – David F. Sobey

....

NO man should be required to work seven Days per week, AGAINST HIS WILL.( what if the man wanted to spread a forty hour workweek over seven days? He'd be working 5.7 hours a day and YES, HE WOULD BE IN VIOLATION OF BREAKING THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH, yet the wheat and the tares must grow together until the day of harvest, so it would be wrong for me to stop him)

Equality of All before God and mankind demands that the law should respect the right of those who desire to work and worship on Saturdays and Sundays, or choose whichever day they want for leisure etc.

If you don't want me to impose a "time tax" which forces your business to close on Saturdays , THEN IT IS EQUALLY WRONG for you to try to stuff Sunday down my throat, or anybody else's throat for that matter, irrespective of your reasons.(Religious, Philanthropic, or whatever) OK?

There are some things which should never be even subject to a vote! What if men decided "To vote" on whether or not black people, should be allowed to work more than four days a week at eight hours per day? (Paid by the hour like white people but for a Total 36 hours, while the non black person gets to work the standard 40 hours AND gets an overtime premium for choosing to work six days)

No-NO, I'm not being silly, this question deserves an answer because if this issue were one of race, gender, or political affiliation, then you would readily see the case for discrimination.

The point about doing unto others as you would have them do unto you is irrefutable in my book.

If you don't want a man to cut your throat, don't try and cut his.

This is no Mickey Mouse businesses; I'm not begging to differ here! Once the paying (not to say playing) field is level, ie , once EVERYBODY has the EQUALL opportunity to have their rest day AND WORKTIME protected , there will be more peace on earth and good will unto ALL (not some men) men until Jesus comes to set things straight. Hopefully we would have understood the conflict over worship as exhibited in Revelation 12:17 et by then.

But until this prejudiced philosophy of forcing a man to lock down on another mans holy day is permanently discredited and abandoned, there will be “war”. And there is “war”.
Just google my name and “Debating the Christian Agenda” in the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper, on Christmas Day 2005 , and you’ll understand more. (Revelation 12:17, “War” polemos , from whence we get or cognate English word “polemic”. This is only just the surface of what’s to come.) God bless you. Merry Christmas and a Happy Prosperous, fulfilling New Year to you when it comes. Ryan O’Neil Seaton. (SDA. visit www.adventist.org )
